Summer school enrolment
CBS Summer 2014 Program DRAFT INFORMATION – updated 17 June 2013
The Curtin Business School will run a limited Summer Program in January/February 2014. The Summer Program is an optional additional program which may assist some students to complete some units towards their course. Please note that the Curtin Business School has no obligation to students to offer certain units to enable them to complete their course in summer. If the units a student requires to complete aren’t running in summer or are scheduled to run but get cancelled, then the student will need to finish their course in 2014 Semester 1 or Semester 2.
Dates
Classes will commence on Monday 6 January and end on Wednesday 5 February. There will be 36 hours of teaching per class during this period spread evenly throughout the program. Exact details of the classes, including how many hours there are per week will be available in mid October. Note that classes will run on Monday 27 January, the Australia Day public holiday. Attendance at all classes is compulsory.
Examinations
Examinations will be between 11 and 17 February including Saturday 15 February and students must be available for this entire examination period as rescheduling of examinations will not be possible.
Fees
The summer program is a 2014 study period so 2014 fees will be applicable. Fees for 2014 have not been determined yet and will be available in mid October. The program is Commonwealth supported for eligible students.
Enrolment
Enrolments for the Summer Program will commence sometime in November 2013. An enrolment information pack will be available by mid October 2013 with information on how and when to enrol. Places in the summer program are very limited.
Enrolment Restriction
Places are very limited, therefore enrolment into the CBS Summer 2014 Program is restricted to Curtin University students studying under their Curtin degree award course. Students from other Universities, Extension students and Cross Institutional students will not be allowed to enrol into the CBS Summer Program.
Draft Unit List
The draft unit list is below. This unit list will be finalised by mid October before enrolments commence. Please note the list is subject to change including units being removed from the list. We strongly recommend you do not make life altering plans based on completing units in summer until enrolments commence in November, because as stated above, we have no obligation to offer units for completion purposes. Note that there are no Postgraduate units running in Summer.
Graduation
Students studying summer will not be eligible to attend the February 2014 ceremonies and will have to wait until the next round of ceremonies.
Supplementary and Deferred Examinations
Supplementary exams are not granted for summer and deferred examinations are only granted under exceptional circumstances. Approved deferred examinations will be sat with the end of semester examinations for semester 1, 2014.
