A degree from the School of Marketing at Curtin Business School (CBS) can give you the ability to define a career at the forefront of emerging industry trends.
The School of Marketing offers a comprehensive range of industry-relevant courses. In line with global trends, we integrate the teaching areas of advertising, marketing and public relations, as well as tourism and hospitality. We are one of the few marketing schools to offer majors in advertising and public relations as part of a firmly business-focused degree.
All of our marketing courses are designed with a high level of input from professional and employer groups in the industry including the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI), the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) and The Communications Council (TCC). We place a strong emphasis on industry links and real world learning, and many of our units involve working on projects with real organisations.
A degree from CBS’s School of Marketing gives our graduates an edge in the business world, enabling them to work and progress to senior management roles in a wide range of industries, both in Australia and overseas.
The school’s research is responsible for not only examining changes in marketing practices, but also for propelling them forward. Our research was ranked at world-class level in both marketing and tourism by the Australian Government in the 2012 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) assessment.
We place a strong emphasis on industry links and real world learning. Through our connections with leading industry bodies and organisations, some of our courses involve professional placements or internships at home or abroad. This helps you make the transition into the business world by providing you with important practical experience and an opportunity to hone your skills before graduation.
Some of the industry bodies we have built strong links with include:
- The Australian Marketing Institute (AMI)
- The Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA)
- The International Advertising Association (IAA).
Our School is also the inaugural Premier Member of The Communications Council (TCC) Education Network.
Other opportunities for learning from industry at the CBS School of Marketing include professional networking events, industry site visits, and assignments where students work on projects in class for real-life organisations.
Our links with industry are further strengthened through our Advisory Board, which includes some of Western Australia’s leading marketing, advertising, public relations and tourism professionals.
