Richard was appointed Director – Entrepreneurship & Executive Education at Curtin Business School in 2007, following a period as an Adjunct Professor. He had worked closely with the University since 2000 as an industry partner and was attracted to this new role because he identified strongly with the themes of “helping businesses grow” and “lifelong learning”.
Richard’s business experience included thirty years in the information and communications technology industries, in the UK and three states of Australia. Over the last twenty years Richard has performed a series of executive roles for IBM, Telstra and Optus, leading sales and service business units and major change projects. Immediately prior to Curtin, Richard was General Manager – Western Australia for SingTel Optus.
Richard completed an executive MBA at Curtin in 2005 with distinction.
Phil Doyle – Program Manager
Phil’s first career was diplomacy. He joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra for 13 years and had postings to the Embassies in Jakarta and Seoul. He enjoyed the thrust and parry of diplomacy, but had a hankering to be involved in business.
Phil began working at Curtin in 1998. Over this period he held several roles and has been Growth Program Manager for 10 years. He has an affinity and great respect for business people and enjoys seeing them, and their businesses, develop. He sees no greater joy than have a business person tell him that a Curtin program has helped them change for the better.
Danelle Cross – Program Manager
Danelle has been a member of the Curtin team since 2007. She studied Marketing and PR at Curtin University and was responsible for marketing the Curtin Business School before joining the Curtin Centre for Entrepreneurship as Program and Partnership Manager. Danelle has over 17 years of strategic marketing, communications, project and partnership management experience across media, tertiary education and FMCG industries.
Michelle Chafin – Program Manager
Michelle Chafin’s career has spanned tourism, regional small business, and event management, marketing and tertiary education.
Michelle completed her Bachelor of Commerce Management and Marketing at Curtin University. Michelle enjoyed working on a number of business and community development projects whilst living in the Kimberley region which include Derby Revitalisation Project, Small Business Field Officer, Young Women’s Indigenous Leadership Programs, Youth Entrepreneurship Day, and Kimberley Home Based Business network.
Michelle recognises the importance of training and development to improve economies in all regions of WA.
Michelle joined the team at the Centre for Entrepreneurship as Program Manager in 2015.
Jenny Boylen – Administration Manager
Jenny joined Curtin Growth in March 2011. She has many years of experience in customer service, administration and event organisation in Commonwealth Government, private sector and community organisations.
She is familiar with the work versus family challenges faced by many women in the modern workforce, and with her roots in the country, is very aware of the additional barriers faced by country people in accessing information and services.
Most recently Jenny was employed in a large statewide not-for-profit organisation in the dual role of Executive Assistant/Office Manager, managing client services, supervising staff and supporting senior managers.
Michelle Morrison – Administration Assistant
Michelle started her working career at BC the body club as a customer service/administration officer and was awarded “Staff Person Of The Year” in the first year of employment. After moving to Perth with her family Michelle managed a Chiropractic Clinic for a number of years ensuring the welfare and care of patients as well as the daily running of a busy clinic.
An opportunity to join Rio Tinto was presented and Michelle continued to provide a high level of administration and customer service in many varied areas of the Corporate Mining Business.
Michelle joined the Centre for Entrepreneurship early 2015 as an administration assistant to the team, providing administration support and customer service focus.
