Professor Piyush “Pi” Sharma has more than twenty-five years’ overall experience in industry and academics. Before joining the School of Marketing at Curtin University in Jan 2014, he was serving as Associate Professor (Marketing) and Director (Asian Centre for Branding and Marketing) at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He also served in the past as the Deputy Program Director for the Hong Kong MBA program (2009-12) and Associate Dean/Coordinator (Internationalization) for the Faculty of Business (2010-12) at PolyU. He is currently serving as an Associate Editor for Journal of Business Research and Journal of Services Marketing, and a member of the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Service Theory and Practice and International Journal of Emerging Markets.

Prof Sharma’s research covers services and international marketing, cross-cultural consumer behavior, counterfeit purchase behavior, self-regulation and regulatory failure, branding and marketing strategy, marketing-finance interface and organizational transformation and leadership. His research is published in the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Service Management, Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Marketing Management, Marketing Intelligence & Planning, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, among others.


Ram Ramaseshan

Professor Ram Ramaseshan

Professor B (Ram) Ramaseshan holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from IIT and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program (AMP), Harvard Business School. He was the Foundation Head of School of Marketing (1996-2011) and Associate Dean (Research & Development) Faculty of Business (2001-2006).

He teaches marketing strategy and business research methods and researches in the area of marketing strategy and customer relationship management. His research has appeared in several journals including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Service Research, Journal of International Marketing and Journal of Business Research.

Professor Ramaseshan presented and co-authored papers in several international conferences and has chaired competitive tracks at these conferences. He has won the Australian & New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC) Distinguished Researcher Award in 2011. He received the Curtin University Business Researcher of the Year award in 1994 and 1998. He was the Vice-President (International Membership) of the Academy of Marketing Science (USA) (2004-2006). In 2005 the Marketing Institute of Singapore honoured him by conferring Fellow of the Marketing Institute of Singapore (FMIS) in recognition of his contribution to the profession of marketing. He is on the editorial review board of several journals and acted as occasional reviewer for a number of journals and conference proceedings.

Professor Ramaseshan has engaged in several major consulting and applied research projects in both public and private sectors and led training courses for business executives on the theme of marketing research, international marketing and marketing strategy. He has travelled widely and has taught in a number of countries in South-East Asia and Europe.


Sonia Dickinson

Sonia Dickinson (BA BCom (Hons) PhD) is an Associate Professor in the School of Marketing, Curtin University, Western Australia. She lectures in undergraduates courses, with a focus on digital communication management. In 2011, her contribution to student learning was recognized by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC), where she was awarded a Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning. Her areas of research interest include advertising self-regulation, message-source effects in advertising, empowerment issues in social media, and brand management. Her work has been published in the European Journal of Marketing, Journalism and Mass Communications Quarterly, Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Advertising and the Journal of Marketing Communications. Sonia leads the School of Marketing, ‘Media Effectiveness Research Group’.

Sonia Dickinson teaches undergraduate learners in The Agency on a weekly basis; demonstrating and teaching learners how to use the software, and explore social media engagement data in relation to real clients. In addition to teaching undergraduate learning, she has presented workshops during Curtin Open Day, and hosted workshops in The Agency for Higher Degree Research students, and for Curtin Business School staff. Sonia also host visits and workshops for external industry members (for example, HBF, Fremantle Dockers, Brownes Dairy, Meerkats, WA Police Force), and for client-based work-integrated learning purposes (for example, the Fremantle Football Club).


Russel Kingshott

Dr Russel PJ Kingshott

Dr Russel Kingshott (BCom (Hons) Curtin, MCom, Curtin, PhD UWA) is senior lecturer in the School of Marketing, Curtin Business School (CBS). He has more than 32 years industry and university experience in a wide variety of managerial, teaching, program management, higher degree supervision and research related roles. Russel was previously Director of Programs within the CBS and currently serves on the University Academic Board and University Courses Committee. He is the current Honours program coordinator in the School of Marketing, and serves on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Services Research. Russel was previously Director of Learning and Teaching in the School of Marketing and taught the full spectrum of graduate and undergraduate marketing units.

He has also taught in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and New Zealand. Russel has extensive industry experience in developing educational programs in the mining sector in Western Australia. During his time in industry Russel was diamond training officer at Argyle Diamonds, and held a number of line manager roles within this industry. Russel has published in the European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Industrial Relations, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of Services Management, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Service Theory and Practice, and Marketing Intelligence & Planning.
