John Langoulant AO

John has enjoyed a diverse career with many aspects involving the development, advocacy and implementation of public policy initiatives. John has interests across the corporate, public and not for profit sectors for much of the past 30 years which continue today. During his early career John was in the Australian Treasury in Canberra. After returning to Perth in 1988 John was appointed Western Australia’s Under Treasurer in 1995, a position John held for close to 10 years, serving under a Liberal and National Party coalition government and subsequently a Labor government.

John decided to leave the Under Treasurer role in 2004 to pursue other interests. John held CEO positions with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA, Australian Capital Equity and with Mitsubishi’s Oakajee Port and Rail project in the mid-west.

Since 2013, John has been consulting to Mitsubishi, Deloitte and Curtin University (in the latter case with a focus on increasing industry engagement with Curtin and on developing innovation precincts on the campus). John is the Chairman of the Westpac Group WA, the Government Employees Superannuation Board, the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre and the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline.

John’s community interests include being the Board Chair of the Telethon Kids Institute and the Committee for Perth and President of CEDA in WA (as well as being on the national CEDA Board).

John was awarded an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia in 2010 for his services to the community and the West Australian of the Year for Industry and Commerce in 2011.
