Mr Azran Osman-Rani
In 2015 Azran continues his disruptive innovation adventure with iflix as its Chief Executive Officer for Malaysia and Group Chief Operating Officer, a tech-media start-up offering subscription video-on-demand services to Southeast Asian markets.
Prior to this appointment, Azran was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia X in July 2007, the world’s pioneer low-cost long-haul airline. He led the start-up team that developed the business plan, raised capital, secured relevant licenses, and launched AirAsia X’s first flight in November 2007. While Azran was CEO of AirAsia X it expanded from one aircraft to twenty, breaking the RM2 billion revenue mark in 2012. In July 2013, AirAsia X became a public-listed company, the first ever long-haul LCC airline to do so.
Azran was formerly the Senior Director of Business Development for Astro All Asia Networks plc, where he led the start-up and operational launch of Astro’s international investments and joint ventures across Southeast Asia, India and Greater China. Azran was also formerly an Associate Partner of McKinsey & Company, an international management consultancy.
He currently sits on the Board of Commissioners of PT XL Axiata in Indonesia, in a non-executive capacity, and was formerly a Board member of Tourism Malaysia. He is an Executive Council Member of the Kuala Lumpur Tourism Development Council.
He holds a Masters degree in Management Science and a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, both from Stanford University. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia.
